About

unsettled - a migrant's zine

Highlighting the unique experiences of economic migrants, the 'unsettled' zine evaluates women's hopes and dreams versus the harsh reality of moving to the UK. Unsettled represents the dual perspective shaped by hardships and challenges, while also appreciating progress and the journey itself.
Features
about unsettled
Our zine aims to represent migrant women in an accessible way, by bringing their stories to life and with carefully constructed visuals allowing viewers to experience the memories from two perspectives: blue and red. Unsettled establishes platform for underrepresented stories, celebrating the strength of female migrants who keep their cultural spirit alive for generations to come. Red and blue representing the pain and tears shed by those leaving their homeland looking for a better future in the UK and their experiences with building a new home and life. The two colours represent the perspectives humans have, proving that everything can change if you look at life with different coloured glasses. Migrant women can be encouraged by reading these stories and looking at them from various angles, hopefully showing that no matter what, there is always a little blue in life.
